College of Natural and Computational Science

Werabe University is one of the fourth Generation Universities in Ethiopia since 2018. It was organized by four colleges. College of Natural and Computational Sciences is one of the college initially formed by the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Physics with 450 students and 22 (19 male and 3 female) academic staff.  Thus, for the sake of better academic, research, and community service, the university and our college had been sharing experience with Universities which have been long in the teaching practice. The college also transferred and employed instructors who have a good experience. Nowadays, the college has 108 instructors, 14 laboratory assistants, and 10 supportive staff in eight departments such as Biology, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Geology, Mathematics Physics, Sport Science and Statistics.

The college gives community service to governmental and nongovernmental schools in Central Ethiopia such as Hairhanzi Special School in the teaching-learning front, by producing hand sanitizer for covid-19, and distributing it to the community, and Mobile laboratory for different high scolls. Since laboratories are very important for laboratory based courses, the College of Natural and Computational Sciences has delivered laboratory-based natural science courses for other national universities and Hairhanzi Special High School.  Currently, we are working on different experiments in our laboratory rooms. In our case, laboratories are divided into computer laboratories and Natural science laboratories such as Organic laboratory, Inorganic laboratory, Zoology Laboratory, Microbiology laboratory, Mechanics laboratory, Electronics laboratory, metamorphic petrology laboratory, Rock petrography laboratory, Mineralogy and Crystallographic laboratory, Mapping laboratory and others. The college has four computer laboratories for computer-based courses and graduates’ research work and a sport practical gymnasium.
