The College of Social Sciences at Werabe University traces its origin to the College of Social Science & Humanities, one of the four founding colleges inaugurated in October 2017 G.C. Its mission has consistently focused on excellence in teaching and learning, problem-solving research, and community service.

In 2021, the original college underwent a strategic expansion, resulting in the formation of College of Social Sciences, College of Humanities, School of Behavioural Science & Education and School of Law. The College of Social Sciences was officially established in January 2021, initially comprising two departments: Geography and Environmental Studies and History and Heritage Management.  Today, the college has grown to include six academic departments: Geography and Environmental Studies, History and Heritage Management, Social Anthropology, Political Science and International Relations, Civics and Ethical Studies and Sociology. The college currently offers two postgraduate programs: MSc in Environment and Sustainable Development and MA in Urban and Regional Development Planning

The College of Social Sciences is supported by a dedicated team of 73 active academic staff members including 1 Assistant Professor, 63 Lecturers and 10 Graduate Assistant Lecturers. Additionally, 15 staff members are on study leave 6 pursuing Master’s degrees and 9 pursuing PhDs.

This brings the total academic workforce to 88, with 22% female representation, reflecting the college’s commitment to gender inclusivity and professional development.  The college currently offer teaching learning services for 558 undergraduate program students across regular and summer programs where 361 male students and 197 female students.
