The Department of English Language and Literature is incepted in 2019 (2010 E.C), and it was one of the departments which are launched when the University is established. It all started with thirty three (33) BA degree students and ten (10) teachers. In the years gone, a total of more than a hundred students graduated in this very department. At present, the department has reached a good level of performance involving twenty one (21) qualified instructors with MA degree in different areas of specialization and one PhD Staff. There are also seven staff members who are pursuing PhD programs in different universities.

Currently, the department is running training programs in various levels: BA degree program in English Language and Literature for regular, summer, and distance students and one MA program of MA degree in TEFL
