Since its establishment in the academic year 2018/19 G.C. under the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources at Werabe University, the department is administered according to the academic structure set by the university.

Department Head: The department is led by a Department Head, who is appointed in accordance with the university's rules and policies. The Department Head plays a central role in the overall leadership and day-to-day operations of the department. Responsibilities include:

• Coordinating academic programs and course offerings
• Managing staff and faculty assignments
• Leading curriculum development and review
• Overseeing student affairs and academic advising
• Representing the department in college and university meetings
• Facilitating research and community engagement activities

Academic Staff: The department consists of ten qualified academic staff with expertise in rural development agricultural extension related fields. Staff members contribute through:

• Teaching undergraduate  courses
• Advising and mentoring students
• Conducting research and publishing findings
• Participating in community-based extension activities
• Involvement in institutional development and university services

Governance and Reporting: The department operates under the academic governance of the College of Agriculture and Natural Resources, and adheres to the policies and strategic directions of  Werabe University Senate. The department prepares periodic reports on:

• Academic performance
• Research and extension activities
• Staffing and development needs
• Budget utilization and resource management

Collaborative Functions: The department also works in collaboration with:
