Ethiopian Government has been engaged in a
major effort to transform Ethiopian society and place the country on a
trajectory to become a lower middle-income economy by the year, 2030. Education is instrumental to attain these
development goals through application of science, technology and innovations.
Werabe
University (WRU) is one of newly established higher public University in
Ethiopia established in 2018/19(2010E.C) by decree No.322/2014E.C of the
Council of Minister of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Mathematics
department is one of department that found in the College of Natural and
Computational Science which start its teaching learning process since 2010E.C.
As a higher educational department, initially the department has set itself on
core responsibilities, with a focus on regional and national relevant
teaching-learning programs, problem-solving research and community services.
Mathematics department starts initial teaching learning program with one
regular B.Sc. degree program with the help of five academic staff members (i.e
Lecturer M=5, F=0,) and with one female
administrative staff. Initially the
number of students that join to the department was 76(M=42, F=34) but from
these number of students five students (M=3, F=2) were stopped their teaching
learning presses with their interest in that academic year and therefore the
number of students decreases to 71(M=38, F=33) but the number of academic staff
in 2011E.C increases to 10(Lecturer M=9, F=1) with the same one female
administrative Staff. Among these students 62 students (M=34, F=28) were
graduated in the year 2012E.C (2010 Bach) from these 58 students were graduated
directly but 4 students graduated lately. Now currently 2018E.C Semester one
the department of Mathematics has two programs i.e one regular B.Sc. degree
program and one summer program with total student of 50. The total summary of
Academic staffs and students that join the department of Mathematics up to now
(2017E.C) can be described as follow
