Background of the Registrar
The Office of the University’s Registrar is a university
unit responsible for all operational matters related to student admission,
selection, placement, registration, and graduation. It is also responsible for
allocating classrooms and lecture halls and for keeping the academic records of
all the schools. This means the office is responsible for creating,
maintaining, securing, and issuing the academic records of both the current and
the past university’s students. The office performs its duties and
responsibilities in close cooperation with the Academic and University Council
(AUC) and other university offices.
The Office of the Registrar shall have a University
Registrar, College/School/Institute Registrars, and different employees. The
office must ensure that pertinent laws, this Legislation, directives of the
Senate and its committees, and guidelines on students (admission, registration,
graduation) and curricula (courses, credit requirements, etc.) are observed
equitably. The office shall also create and maintain up-to-date and accurate
information on student admission, placement, registration, academic
performance, retention, attrition, and graduation based on the types of
undergraduate and graduate programs and their modes of delivery.
Vision of the Registrar
The Office of the Registrar aspires to be an automated
service center for delivering excellent services in admission, registration,
academic result analysis, and student records.
Mission of the Registrar
The Office of the Registrar is expected to address
activities related to admission, registration, academic result analysis, and
student records that support the mission of Werabe University.
Responsibilities of the Office of the Registrar
The Office of the Registrar has the following
responsibilities:
ü Prepare the Academic Calendar of
the University each year in consultation with the VPARTTCS and submit it to the
Senate for approval.
ü Administer all operational matters
of the Office of the University Registrar and its various units.
ü Submit the annual budget of the
Office of the Registrar to the VPARTTCS and administer any funds that may be placed
at its disposal.
ü Be responsible for implementing
the policies and directives laid down by the Senate pertaining to students
(admission, placement, registration, academic performance, attrition,
graduation, etc.) and curricula (courses, credit requirements, etc.).
ü Continually analyze and evaluate
all existing rules and regulations on registration, academic performance,
attrition, graduation, etc., and curricula (courses, credit requirements, etc.)
and recommend modifications where necessary.
ü Submit to the senate, after
approval by the AUCs or the SGS, the names of candidates eligible for the award
of certificates, diplomas, and degrees, including special awards, in conformity
with University rules and regulations.
ü Submit timely progress reports to
the VPARTTCS on student admission, placement, registration, academic
performance, and attrition, and make any recommendations thereon.
ü Submit regular reports on the
activities of the Office of the Registrar and its various units to the VPARTTCS,
and make recommendations on how to improve the overall operations of the office
and its various units.
ü Support, coordinate, and oversee
the registrar units of the University.
ü Perform other duties consistent
with its responsibility as may be assigned by the VPARTTCS.
ü Delegate some of its powers to
College/School/Institute Registrars.
