Werabe University is one of the fourth generation universities established in 2014 G.C at Werabe town, Silte Zone, Central Ethiopia Regional State.

Currently, the university has 6 colleges, 2 schools, and 1 institute that comprised about 47 undergraduate and 15 postgraduate programs. The university has 671 academic staff with diversified field of specializations and academic rank.

Regarding research, the university has two research centers, one at the main campus and the second at Gerbiber. We have also received 5 patent rights for our innovative works in research and incubations. Recently, the university is aligning its research funding to thematic research as per the directions mandated by MoE and establishing two journals that will biannually publish innovative researches.

Concerning community engagement and social responsibility, the university is seriously working on school support initiates particularly breaking the low achievement of high school students at national exam. We are also emphasizing on recent agendas of the government like illegal migration and human trafficking, mental health and substance abuse, road and traffic safety …etc.

The office of Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer and Community Engagement is responsible for planning, implementing, and coordinating the overall academic issues of the university, particularly teaching and learning, research, innovations and technology transfer, and community engagement & social responsibility. To carry out these responsibilities, the office of Vice President for Academic, Research, Technology Transfer and Community Engagement is closely working with Academic Deans, Directors, and other Administrators of the University. The Vice President of Academic affairs is accountable to the President and the following academic units are also accountable to the Academic Vice President;
